Our Expansion Continues:
City Planners and Contractors Have their Own Sense of Time
Yes – this is the exact same information as last month – because we’re still waiting. Sound familiar! But we’re hopeful – it will happen.
Rochester – We’re in the permit process for construction on our new location and you know how long that can take. The goal is to move into our own building as soon as we can and expand hours to 24/7 just like our four other hospitals. We’ll keep you posted. For now, we can be found at 205 S Main Street, Stewartville, MN 55976, (507) 900-5600, rochester@alliedERvet.com
Having a variety of payment options is just the first step in demonstrating that our goal is always to help – help a pet, help a family, help a referring practice, help our community.
We do this in several ways:
- Transparent pricing, estimates, education, and empathy are all part of the treatment plan
- More payment options that allow a pet owner to choose what’s best for them
- Varidi – Payment plans with no credit checks or interest — so your clients can say yes more often
- CareCredit – Health and wellness credit card
- Scratch – Options may include a 12-24 month payment plan
- Angel Fund – Generous donations in small increments allow those in need to receive assistance
Baby Kitty came to our Brooklyn Park emergency department in urgent need of help. She had delivered one kitten the day before, but now had another kitten stuck in the birth canal and one still in utero when her labor stalled.
Thanks to the quick action of Dr. York and our emergency team, a C-section was recommended to save both mom and her babies. But when finances became a barrier between life and death, our Angel Fund—made possible through your generous donations—stepped in to bridge the gap.
Baby Kitty made it safely through surgery and was also spayed to prevent future complications. Sadly, the kitten that was stuck could not be saved, but the kitten delivered via C-section is now thriving at home.
Stories like Baby Kitty’s are only possible because of the kindness of our community. Every dollar donated helps us provide life-saving care to pets in need when funds aren’t available. Each of our practice locations has their own Fund, available here.
The Making of a Great Veterinary Employee
Whether your team includes credentialed technicians, technician assistants, veterinary technician specialists, or kennel staff, we all share the same goals: creating meaningful career paths, supporting professional growth, and delivering exceptional patient care. By fostering learning and encouraging skill development, we not only improve retention but also increase efficiency. The result is a more productive, supportive, and enjoyable work environment for everyone.
Our desire to invest in our teams is admirable—but too often, it lacks consistency or a clear strategy. The good news is that our industry offers excellent resources to help practices build structured, sustainable programs without having to start from scratch.
At Allied, we’re currently enhancing our technician training initiatives and wanted to share a few valuable tools we’ve discovered:
- AVMA – recently updated CVTEA accreditation policies and procedures (August 2025)
- Purdue University – Essential Skills Checklist for Veterinary Nursing
- VetPartners – free Team Utilization Guide (available for download)
- Fear Free – a variety of individual and practice certification programs
Final Thoughts: The most important step is simply to begin. It won’t be perfect, but choose a program or path that fits your team, set clear goals with a timeline, and delegate responsibilities to the right people. Build in incentives, celebrate milestones, and share stories of how new skills make a difference for patients. Every small step forward creates momentum—and brings us closer to building the thriving, fulfilled teams our profession needs.
Having Fun While Supporting Our Community
Summer may be winding down but we’re not. Allied’s commitment to our community knows no bounds. Supporting animals and families throughout the Twin Cities is one of the things we enjoy most about our role as health care professionals – sharing our knowledge and love for animals. We hope to see you (or one of your kids) at an upcoming event.
September 16-21st – Spark Sponsorship Week
We’re sharing veterinary care and how to look after animals with kids in a fun, hands-on way.
Some of our programs include:
- Book reading
- Stuffed animal check-up clinic with stethoscopes
- Dog safety and bite prevention
- Cat care and visits with a feline friend
The kids will get to wear lab coats, “treat” stuffed animals, view x-rays, and learn about keeping pets healthy.
Saturday, September 27th – Vets X Pets 5K Walk/Run
Proceeds from this awesome event go to some very deserving veterans and service dog programs including Magnus Veterinary Foundation, Patriot Assistance Dogs, and Roger Up. We have a team participating in the walk/run and a booth to share information about emergency and specialty care at Allied’s 5 locations across Minnesota and Western Wisconsin.
Saturday, October 4th, 2025 – LollaPAWlooza
LollaPAWlooza is a pet-lovers marketplace happening from 3–7PM at Unleashed Hounds and Hops in Minneapolis. This event brings together local pet-friendly businesses, rescues, and community members for a fun, pet-focused day – think farmers market, but just for pets! We’ll have a booth and feature “As the Vet” so bring your questions. We look forward to meeting you.
