About Dr. Sam Chiu
Dr. Chiu's journey in veterinary medicine has been grounded in a steadfast commitment to surgical excellence and a deep understanding of the veterinarian-pet owner relationship. His academic pursuit was marked by a full scholarship to the University of Melbourne in Australia, where he completed his veterinary degree.
Following his degree, Dr. Chiu honed his skills through internships and a rigorous fellowship and residency in small animal surgery at North Carolina State University. His clinical research was recognized by awards such as the Wade O. Brinker Award for orthopedic research and the Mark Bloomberg Award, with further accolades for his research contributions, including the Firestone Research Award and the Top Honors Research Award.
Dr. Chiu has a special interest in a range of surgical procedures, with a focus on minimally invasive techniques such as thoracoscopy, laparoscopy, and arthroscopy, alongside advanced procedures like image-guided interventions. He is equally adept at soft tissue, orthopedics, and neurosurgery, always prioritizing the well-being and individual needs of each patient.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Chiu values his time with family, understanding that our love for our pets is akin to the bonds within our own families. This personal insight informs his approach to veterinary care — compassionate, patient-focused, and always respectful of the pets and people he serves.
As Dr. Chiu joins the team at Allied, he looks forward to working closely with referring veterinarians and pet owners. He aims to ensure a transparent and effective treatment process for all patients, rooted in mutual respect and the shared aim of excellent surgical care.
